Toddler must

I have never made play dough. Jayda either plays with it at Grandma B's or when my mom comes out she makes it and we have it around for months on end. Lately, Jayda has been asking for it again so I decided to make a batch of it. I found the following recipe online and it works great. It is nice because you don't have to worry about burning your dough as it boils in a pot. Just add boiling water and mix really well.

Uncooked Play Dough

2 cups of plain flour
4 tablespoons of 'cream of tartar'
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
2 cups of boiling water
food colouring

*Just pop it all in a mixing bowl and mix!

*It looks as though it is not going to mix well at first but hang in there and throw it onto the bench to knead, and it will come together really nicely.

*We put different things in ours also such as glitter and sand. Just be careful you don't put things in like rice as they tend to go mouldy - we find glitter is really good.

*Add peppermint oil for a great smell and even longer lasting playdough...

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I read this a long while back on my google reader & dug your recipe up today to make for my boys :) My mom always made homemade for us too growing up, I just love simple activities like this for toddlers.
